About Saskia
Tell us a bit about you
I have been working at Knutsford Veterinary Surgery since April 2020, firstly as a Veterinary Care Assistant, helping with the nursing and reception teams.
As of September 2023 I started my course to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
Have you ever treated an unusual pet or species?
As Knutsford Vets is a small animal practice, we don’t tend to see much wildlife or unusual species. However, one time in a consultation, the goose we were examining laid an egg.
Do you have any qualifications or additional training?
BSc (Hons) Psychology.
Level 2 Veterinary Care and Animal Welfare
Level 1 Animal first Aid
Level 3 Animal care and welfare
What does your job entail on a day-to-day basis?
I assist with consultations, help prepare patients for surgery, look after them when they recover and ensure they have everything they need to go home with.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Caring for inpatients, providing TLC and making sure they are as calm and comfortable as possible during their stay with us. Having a pet staying at the verts can be nerve wracking for clients and patients. I like to think we make this time as easy as possible.
Favourite film
Mamma Mia! Or any feel good musical.
Favourite Song
Life on Mars by David Bowie.
What other interests do you have outside of work?
I love live music and spend much of my free time attending gigs. I also enjoy travelling and exploring different places.
My Favourite thing about Knutsford
The bars, pubs and restaurants on the high street.
My Favourite dog walk in Cheshire
I don’t have a dog but I do love a walk around Tatton Park or Macclesfield Forrest.
