What’s New – We’re Expanding

This year, we’re expanding and completely renovating Knutsford Veterinary Surgery to bring you and your pets an ever better experience, with new spaces and additional services. We’ll be starting work on the expansion in September, and expect to complete it in the Spring of 2023.

We will remain fully operational throughout the expansion, and our innovative building strategy means the main building fabric should be up before Christmas. We expect there to be minimal noise and disruption throughout this time, but we will have a temporary reception and waiting area in temporary accommodation to the front of the practice but will continue to consult and operate within the main building.

Take a Look at Our Plans

What you can expect from our expansion:

More Consult Rooms and a Larger Waiting/Reception Area: Since opening, we have had a modest waiting room and two consultation rooms. Post-Covid we have seen a change in the way that clients use our services with whole families now accompanying one or more pets. We want to encourage this so our new extension will double the reception and waiting room space. This will allow a better flow around reception with check-in and check-out areas. Anxious pets can have the space they need and we’ll have a dedicated sound-proofed booth where cats can relax whilst awaiting their appointment. Should you need to wait while tests are run, there will also be a coffee bar.

A third consultation room will allow nurse consultations to run throughout the day. A dedicated emergency and bereavement room with its own separate entrance will give clients and their pets the time and space they need when it matters.

Larger Cat and Dog Wards and New Prep-Room: A new Prep Room will house induction and recovery kennels with a specialist oxygen kennel for patients needing an oxygen-rich environment.

We want to  make sure that your pets are comfortable during their stay with us, so we’re making our cat and dog wards a little bigger. We wave goodbye to bars as all of our new bespoke kennels will have beautiful glass doors so pets can relax like they’re at home.. Each ward  will have lighting and heating that can be tailored to our inpatients and background music will help them relax during their stay.

New Operating Theatres: Our clinical areas will benefit from new theatre space. We will offer separate soft tissue, orthopaedic and dental theatres where our General Practitioners, Certificate Holders and Specialists can provide unrivalled care.

Sustainability: “Honest, tailored care for your pet… and the environment”

Our bespoke surgery will be solar-powered and run the most efficient specialist LED lighting, temperature control and ventilation systems, so clients and their pets can enjoy a comfortable visit.

The extension will be built using state-of-the-art SIP technology. These panels are built off-site and are erected on site in a little over a week. This will allow us to reduce waste on site by over 90% compared to a traditional build and be more energy efficient. The exterior will be clad in recycled materials and the garden will be landscaped to incorporate more trees and biodiversity.

The Knutsford Vets Team

Knutsford Veterinary Surgery’s expansion will allow us to offer a more tailored, efficient and comprehensive service. You’ll see the same faces with the addition of some new ones. Our newest vet, Dr Bills-Brown comes with a post-graduate certificate in Internal Medicine and has a keen interest in endoscopy and diagnostic imaging.

Charlie, (Paul’s better half) returns from maternity leave later this year and will spearhead our Dental Service as she completes her GPCert in Dentistry and Oral Surgery. Sophie joins Holly, Alex, Elodie and Katie, taking our nurse team to five and Lauren and Louise join Hannah and Sam on Reception supporting a smoother client journey.

There’s a lot to look forward to.
